History

Chronicle of Success

1930 Emil Lumbeck (1886-1979) had the idea of preventing well-read books from falling apart by re-gluing and reinforcing their spines.

1932 Invention of a toughened elastic synthetic resin emulsion in cooperation with Farbwerken Hoechst.

1936 Lumbeck method registered with the German patent office.

1940 Inventor’s patents awarded for the Lumbeck method with synthetic resin emulsion.

1947 Founding of the Hans Ehlermann und Emil Lumbeck machine and adhesives factory in Verden an der Aller.

1950 Begin of rapid developments in the field of adhesive binding, parallel to the development
of new adhesives for the paper-processing industry.

1952 Large customers such as publishers Rowohlt-Verlag (rororo), the German Post Office (telephone directories) and the company Zweckform (form blocks and sets) make use of the Lumbeck method. Furthermore, »Lumbecking« had become a technical term and quality connotation in the world of print finishing.

1962 Transfer of businesses to Helmut May

1997 New patent application for the Eluid brand submitted by Andreas May.
Trademark protection granted by the German patent office.

1998 Business taken over by Andreas May; inauguration of production facilities on the site located at number 10 Heinrich-Hertz-Straße in Verden.

2005 Construction of a storage tank farm for dispersions and an automated mixed mode production system for disperions with PLC-control

2007 Product expansion with melt adhesives

2008 Enlargement of storage tank capacity to 210 t

2009 Product extension with PUR-adhesives, Increasing the storage capacity for PUR hot melt adhesives Restructuring of the laboratory and application technology in the new plant 2

2011 Construction of a new plant with steam generators for the production of temperature-dependent adhesives (casein, PVOH, starch, among others) in plant 2

2012 Construction of 2 dispersion mixing plants for acrylates in plant 1

2013 Expansion / renovation of existing dispersion mixing with 3 new production lines with PLC control

2015 Construction of a second plant with steam generators for the production of temperature-dependent adhesives (casein, PVOH, starch, among others) in plant 2
